Jumping on the bandwagon?

The new kit that everyone seems to go on about and the media too, are the 'pads'.  A4 paper sized computers, thin enough to hold, and as powerful as some computers.  Apple were the first, and now I could probably google up to ten different companies with their own tablet.  HP brought one out, but quickly withdrew it due to the software running it.  It works, but HP will not be supporting it in future.  Today, they are making these available in an employee only sale.  I am hoping that my Wife is able to get one for me.

They originally came out at several hundred dollars, and now they are $99/$150 depending on the model.

Why do I need another piece of kit?  A few reasons, certainly one being that I just want to have the latest thing.  Another reason is the convenience of the item.  It is larger then a phone, but more portable then a computer.  You can use it to surf the internet.  This model also has Skpe built in.  If I want to see family or friends at the moment, I need to be on my hulk of a laptop, or squint at them on my cell phone.  Even though HP are ditching this product, there are still many programs available for it.  I can send and receive emails through it, and even write on it to.

There is no guarantee my Wife will be able to buy one, HP have a limit on one pad per employee, but, there is no harm in trying.
